About Tulasi Vastra Kalakar
Updated
The short answer
Tulasi Vastra Kalakar ("Tulasi, the cloth artisan") is a family-owned handloom house from Hyderabad, India. We weave 100% pure cotton Mangalagiri sarees, Mangalagiri pattu sarees, kurta sets and dupattas on our own looms, working with around 400 weaver families and 100 looms, and ship worldwide.
Why we started
We wanted to sell handloom the honest way: woven on our own looms, priced fairly for the weaver, and described exactly as it is — no powerloom, no vague "handcrafted" labels.
What we make
- Mangalagiri cotton sarees with the Nizam zari border
- Mangalagiri pattu (silk-cotton) sarees
- Handloom dresses and kurta sets
- Dupattas and running fabric
How we work
- Every saree takes about 30 days on a pit loom.
- Yarn between 100s–200s count, dyed in small batches.
- Each piece is checked by hand before it ships.
- See any piece on a live video call before you buy.
